Relapse Magazine Party

10 May

Earlier this week I had the pleasure of attending a Relapse Magazine Party, celebrating the Virgin Issue, in conjunction with MC2 Modeling Agency. The magazine was launched in January 2012, with the aim of re-defining the relationship between publications and its readers. With high art fashion photography, and “provocative culture journalism” the magazine prides itself on maintaining a pulse on NYC’s cultural curators.

What was the partly like though? It was packed with gorgeous models, fashion industry scenesters, stylists, photographers, and the usual all around artists. With great complimentary cocktails courtesy of double cross vodka, and all the hits provided by DJ Vikas, the whole crowd cheered, mingled and danced to the release of the latest issue of the magazine!

Me and my good friend Kira who’s a stylist at Piperlime!

Gorgeous model Ebonee from MC2

I wore a Rachel by Rachel Roy leather jacket, an urban outfitters black tank, BCBG scarf, members only leggings and a BCBG fur clutch!

Agi and Sam: The New Standard in English Style

9 May

English menswear brand, Agi and Sam, is the epitome of “cool kid” hipster, meets private school prepster, meets “old man SWAG.” Agi and Sam have a truly special combination. So much so, that the British Fashion Council has selected the brand to travel with the exclusive London Showrooms trunk show, which features the hottest design talent from London, showcasing their clothes to the top buyers and press around the world.

So what does the Agi and Sam man look like for Fall? From bright alternating pictoral prints on pants, jackets and collars,  to differing the fabric on the bodice of a jacket from the sleeves, or a 3 button style jacket, without any buttons at all; Agi and Sam are pushing the boundaries of menswear in a young and fresh way! My favorite pieces though, are the bright three piece suits, reminiscent of 70′s English Rocks heyday.  The suits just seem to have a young Mick Jagger written all over them!

Already selling in exclusive stores like Harvey Nichols and Liberty in the UK, and online hot spots like The Corner, the brand is well on its way!

LOVE APRIL

5 Apr

Love April is an upcoming label from Ghanaian designer Nina Barkers-Woode. Launching later this year, they were kind enough to send me images to give my fashion fixxation fans a sneak peak of their new collection releasing later this year called “Oversized Tribalism”.

Using African Womanhood as her muse, Nina tapped into her own natural instinct and produced tribal pints by hand on chiffon fabric. A contemporary line, filled with separates, jumpsuits and dresses, Nina mixed classic with afro hipster designs and pops of color very well!

Comment below and let me know what you think!

EMERGING BRAND, CITYZEN BY AZIN, IS CAPTURING THE WORLD ONE CITY AT A TIME

EMERGING BRAND, CITYZEN BY AZIN, IS CAPTURING THE WORLD ONE CITY AT A TIME
A Luxury Fashion brand based on satellite maps of cities around the world

Cityzen by Azin, founded by Azin Valy, partner at I-Beam Design, an award-winning architecture and design firm in New York City, redefines luxury with a global consciousness.

While doing satellite imagery research for an exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art that I-Beam Design was nominated for, Azin was inspired by stunning views of cities from above that evoked a sense of the diverse inhabitants sharing similar aspirations. This provided the spark for Cityzen by Azin.

Satellite imagery incorporated onto the finest silks, satins and leather reveals the intersection of the human body, nature and urbanism, creating a holistic fashion brand. Form following topography defines each garment by allowing a river to turn into a strap or a slit, a mountain creating a volumetric neckline, or a road marking a transition in a garment.

Cityzen launched its 2013 collection in January, with a series of cocktail dresses, gowns, leather bags, travel accessories and silk scarves that highlighted cities like New York, Paris, Tokyo, and Bangkok. Each of the fourteen cities represented in the collection is accompanied by a map that references points of interest such as architecture, the arts, food, music, local culture and a cause.

Celebrities and notable figures to wear the brand to date include: Grammy award winning musician Esperanza Spalding, artist and film maker Shirin Neshat at both the Doha Tribeca film festival and 63rd annual Berlin film festival, and author, commentator and journalist, Hooman Majd. The Chicago dress has also been accepted into the white house as a gift to First Lady Michelle Obama.

Cityzen promotes a global dialogue through fashion and is currently working towards partnerships with causes in each city represented in the line. The goal is for the pieces to be used as fundraising tools and/or calls to action for those causes. Infusing both style and trends with an awareness of global issues, Cityzen believes “The arts can bridge differences, technology can reveal beauty, interconnectivity leads to new discoveries, and taking the long view brings commonality into focus.”
