Kwesi Abbensetts

Kwesi Abensetts, is a Guyanese photographer that is well known in the Brooklyn and NY Metro area amongst the African Diasporan community. For his careful and artful documentation of both public and private events pertaining to their lives. Self taught (though he has a film degree from Brooklyn College), his unique photos are recognizable for their vintage and natural feel, giving his subjects a transcendent beauty that has little to do with their physical features. The “rawness”, tranquility and inner peace that he captures in his photos are the most obvious identifiers for his unique style.
Also working in fashion, shooting models, look books and street style outside of fashion week; he has begun to make a name for himself outside of the everyday life photography he began his career with. A true artist giving the world his heart and soul through his photography; his instincts and raw talent are all over the beautiful imagery he creates. And his choice of subjects, has breathed new life in the African and African Diasporan community as their lives, beauty, and struggle are finally being documented in an artful, moving and respectful way.
